Bordeaux 101

Bordeaux, the largest wine growing region in France, has been producing wine since the first or second century. It has an estuary and tributaries that irrigate the land and moderate the climate. It also has a right bank, a left bank and the “land between two seas”.

The majority of the wine is red, blended from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Dry white wines and sweet wines – think Sauternes – are also made in the region.

We will taste five wines with a focus on learning about the terminology of the wines of Bordeaux as well as the governmental body that dictates which varietals can be grown and produced for commercial purposes. Small charcuterie plates will be provided.

Join us Tuesday, June 5 at 6:30 pm as we begin to explore this large and important wine region.

Location: Off the Vine, Grapevine

Members: $42

Non-members: $52
